Artist statement
I began painting in 1984, during my Architecture and Urbanism studies. Since then, art has always been present in my life. Even though it is not my main occupation, I have always maintained an active studio and developed my work continuously.
My painting is organized as a visual system. Each canvas emerges as a field under construction, where repetition, layering, and variation create relationships among forms, signs, and paths. I do not follow a predefined image: the painting happens through the process.
Layers accumulate, gestures repeat, and paths emerge and transform. The gaze moves, returns, gets lost, and reorganizes itself—almost like crossing an open map where each reading reveals new connections.
I rely on three pillars: rhythm, harmony, and balance. Rhythm creates pulse, harmony integrates, and balance sustains the relationship between what expands and what is contained. In recent works, recognizable elements become anchors within this flow, creating pauses and organizing space without interrupting its energy.
My painting is a place of passage: a space where matter and perception meet, and where each work is built as an experience.
